GOSHEN FIRE COMPANY RECEIVES GRANT FROM
STATE REPRESENTATIVE TAYLOR
West
Chester, PA – (August 24, 2005): On Wednesday, Grant Everhart of
Goshen Fire Company, along with the representatives from nine other nonprofit
organizations, gathered at the Lincoln Building to receive good news from State
Representative Elinor Z. Taylor. Taylor’s generosity and commitment to the
West Chester community compelled her to use her pay increase, in its entirety,
to make numerous charitable gifts, including a donation to Goshen Fire
Company.
The first grants were awarded to the charitable
causes the Honorable Dr. Taylor feels are particularly outstanding in providing
service to
State
Representative Taylor explained, “This is a welcome opportunity to give
thanks. Upon receiving the unvouchered expense I could have put it back in the
governmental pot but then the monies would just get mixed up. By establishing a foundation at the Chester
County Community Foundation I can direct my gifts purposefully. I can give to those charitable organizations
which are the backbone of our community--the organizations which provide
quality service for young and elderly, and which make the 156th
district a safe place to live.”
The
Taylor Charitable Foundation has two components: a provisional fund from
which these immediate grants will be made, and an endowed fund from which
community grants will be made for perpetuity.
This allows the Honorable Dr. Taylor to make short-term and long-term
gifts to the community.
Located
in downtown West Chester, the Chester County Community Foundation leads,
inspires and encourages all individuals and organizations to create or
contribute to lasting philanthropic charitable legacies. The Community
Foundation holds over $21 million in trust and by administering funds helps
more than 223 individuals, families and nonprofits who want to provide a
charitable legacy for their community forever. Last year, The Community
Foundation awarded $1.2 million in grants and scholarships. For more
